CNP Land: The Sandbox Metaverse Development

In August 2023, CNP announced the release of CNP Land in The Sandbox Metaverse. It’s a large area of metaverse estate that CNP has been building for the past 9 months.

The development of CNP Land is one of the project’s long-term and critical steps in raising its profile to become a global IP character.

I’ve been following the growth and progress of the Japanese NFT market for the past two years, and I can honestly say that CNP is one of the key projects that could influence the future direction of the Web3 industry in Japan.

It’s therefore vital to keep up with the progress of the CNP project if you want to know what’s happening in the Japanese NFT space!
In this article, I’ll share with you the team’s strategy and thoughts behind the development of CNP Land.

CNP (CryptoNinja Partners) is the most actively traded and largest NFT collection by market capitalisation in Japan. Its vision is to create a new Web3-style IP character through a super-permissive licensing model and the participation of community members in its growth.

What is CNP Land?

CNP Land is a large estate in The Sandbox Metaverse with a magnificent tree in the centre as its symbol. Surrounding the tree, there are nine separate areas representing the CryptoNinja clans – each clan has its unique display and activity.

You can imagine how massive the whole area is. Eventually, the tree will become a hall where people can gather and enjoy CNP-related events.
The land is being developed by Osushi Voxel Studio.

The main Tenkai area is currently open to the public, with other areas to be opened in due course.

Thoughts behind CNP Land

The concept of the metaverse is still new and hasn’t yet been accepted by the general public. Although some high-profile companies such as Addidas and McDonald’s are developing their own land in The Sandbox, visitor numbers are still low.

However, the CNP team decided to become the first Japanese brand to have a significant presence in The Sandbox – CNP Land development started in the autumn 2022.

“I know it may be some time before people to start using the metaverse on a regular basis,” said CNP founder Road. “But when that time comes, we want to make sure that we are one step ahead of everyone else. Establishing a leading position in The Sandbox now will help raise our global profile as an IP character, as people from all over the world visit CNP Land and discover our project as a result.”

Since the release of the CNP NFT collection in May 2022, the team’s main focus has been to spread the name of CNP to the general public.

They have taken a number of initiatives such as:

  • the development and release of a mobile game, BurNin’ Wars
  • collaboration with Softbank Group and Japanese regional governments
  • opening of a pop-up store, CNP Store at Laforet Harajuku in Tokyo

“We are not an NFT project that just sells PFPs. Instead, we are a Web3-style IP character brand utilising NFT technology,” said Road.

This is why CNP is focusing on raising its profile through various initiatives, both NFT and non-NFT related projects, one of which is the CNP Land development.

CNP Land Strategy

So far, The Sandbox has only released its beta version, so its features and traffic are still limited.

“I’m sure you’ll all agree that the metaverse isn’t much fun at the moment because you’re often alone and there’s no one to hang out with when you visit,” said Ikehaya, CNP Lead Marketer. “But that is what we are trying to change with the help of our community.”

Ikehaya actively promotes CNP Land within the NinjaDAO community and has held a number of events for the members to enjoy. He believes that to fully understand the potential of the metaverse, users need to be in the same place at the same time, enjoying and sharing experiences with others.

Thanks to the active participation of the community members, CNP Land had more than 1,000 unique visitors within a week of its release. This number continues to grow as the word spreads beyond the community.

“We want to get as many people as possible into CNP Land and establish a leading position in this early stage of metaverse growth,” said Ikehaya. “Once we have established our presence, our global profile will naturally grow as the number of people using The Sandbox increases.”

The development of CNP Land is ongoing, with more exciting updates and events to come.
