What are CryptoNinja Nouns (CNN) NFTs?

After a year of planning and development, the long-awaited CryptoNinja Nous (CNN) collection is finally here. CNN aims to create a “community wallet” for NinjaDAO, the largest NFT community in Japan, using the fork of the Nouns DAO system.

CNN is an exciting project that NinjaDAO members have been waiting for. We believe it could enhance the strength of the Japanese creators as well as our Web3 community.

What is Nouns NFT?

Before we get into CNN, let me briefly explain how the original Nouns project works.

Nouns is a pixelated profile picture (PFP) NFT collection first released in August 2021. Nouns NFTs act as a membership pass to the exclusive Nouns DAO, a decentralized organization made up of Noun holders.

The Nouns project is an experimental attempt to improve the formation of Web3 communities by automating governance and treasury. The theme is “trustless” – its unique features are:

  • One Noun is auctioned every 24 hours, forever – it’s automated by the program
  • 100% of Noun auction proceeds are automatically sent to the treasury
  • One Noun equals one vote. Holders decide how the treasury fund is spent through governance votes.

Nouns is considered the purest form of DAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organisation) due to its automated and trustless structure.

The Nouns DAO has over 27,000ETH in the treasury wallet at the time of writing.

What are CryptoNinja Nouns (CNN) NFTs?

CNN was created using a fork of the Nouns DAO system with the aim of building the NinjaDAO community wallet.

The key members behind the project are as follows:

  • Paji: Founder of Tokyo Otaku Mode
  • Ikehaya: Founder of NinjaDAO
  • Monaco: Lead designer

Paji is a Web3 influencer known for promoting Japanese anime and otaku culture worldwide. He is the owner of Nouns NFTs and his knowledge of the project has been the key driver in the development of CNN.

Ikehaya is an NFT/marketing influencer with a total of over 500,000 social media followers. He is a lead marketer of Japan’s top projects. CryptoNinja Partners and Live Like A Cat. You can find out more about Ikehaya here.

Monaco is a Japanese creator specializing in pixel art. She is also a designer for the blockchain game Crypto Fantasy and the upcoming collection Houhou.

CNN’s art is fully on-chain and also in the public domain.

The funds raised by the CNN will be used for the growth of the CryptoNinja IP and the NinjaDAO community. NinjaDAO is the largest Japanese NFT community with over 100,000 members at the time of writing. The community was founded by Ikehaya in September 2021 with the aim of developing a Web3-style character IP “CryptoNinja” – it uses a super permissive licensing model that allows creators to use the characters without charging royalties.

Unlike the original Nouns, the CNN project has a clear goal for the use of the funds, which is to develop the CryptoNinja IP.

“We can treat the CryptoNinja Nouns treasury as everyone’s wallet or piggy bank. For example, the funds can be used to create CryptoNinja manga or games – any projects that will help raise the profile of the CryptoNinja brand,” Ikehaya said in the recent interview.

CryptoNinja Nouns give creators the opportunity to start their own projects using CryptoNinja characters without having to raise their own funds.

“Since we have so many talented creators in NinjaDAO, I wanted to develop a system that would allow them to realize their potential,” Ikehaya said. “I believe CNN will revolutionize an organization’s treasury structure, which will further strengthen our community and drive the growth of the CryptoNinja IP”.

The Future of CryptoNinja Nouns

So, what can we expect from CNN?

Like the main Nouns project, the CNN auction will continue forever. However, unlike Nouns, the frequency of the CNN auction will decrease over time.

So far, CNN has raised 218ETH for the NinjaDAO treasury.

It’s amazing, considering it’s only been four months since CNN launched!

Auction #123 is currently underway, and many NinjaDAO supporters are actively bidding.

“Projects can be big or small and anyone can submit a proposal through a CNN holder, we hope to provide opportunities for as many creators as possible,” said Ikehaya.

“Soon, there will be many projects such as manga/anime creation, game development, and character merchandise production coming out of NinjaDAO with the funds from CNN. I’m really excited about it!”

It’s still early days, so it will be interesting to see how much ETH is raised over the next few months.

Will CNN fuel CryptoNinja’s growth into a globally successful IP? I’ll keep you posted!
